What is the most common problems in Volkswagen beetle?

My Mom And Dad just Surprised Me With a New Car Well it's a Volkswagen bettle 2005 model and We have Never Owned one does anyone have any advice or know their weak points? and how long have they been known to last it has around 100,000 miles and it's diesel fuel.|||You got the best hon, they are bullet proof and has the best fuel mileage with the TDI engine. Is almost head to head with a Hybrid.

My wife had 2 Beetles an 03 and now an 07. I like the 07 and is very reliable. I wanted the 07 TDI but was too expensive. My friend had a TDI with his beetle, he ran from Wichita KS to Dallas TX and back with one tank of fuel. The 07 has Tiptronic and I drove a TDI (TurboDiesel Direct Injection) with the Tiptronic and fell in love with it. But we settle for the 5Cly 2.5 Audi engine since it was 10,000 less than the Diesel.

Diesel is pricey, but still using so little that is worth to have it. To break even with the gasoline counterparts, the fuel has to be about a Dollar difference. The TDI pulls like a V8 and is fun to drive. With the right mods, that engine is one of the preferred engine to run with Vegetable Oil (aka Biodiesel).

With proper care these cars last a very long time. Just when they break they are pricey, so do the maintenance and take good care of it. The engine oil used is Synthetic so make sure you get that. That type of oil is pricey but is so well worth it that is nothing. Here is a link with the need it oils and read the Owner's Manual it pays to know your car.

Look in he Manual for the right spec of oil and go shopping with this form, you can get some good deals out there.

I would love to get my hands on one of those bugs. They worth gold !

Enjoy and tell your parents a big thank you ! That is one of the best gifts ever !|||Electical problems

Everything is wired together.

All German cars have electrical problems.

Power windows stop working, power locks stop working, light bulbs burn out quickly.

When those things go wrong, they put the transmission in safe mode, where you cannot drive fast and you need to get the problem fixed. It costs an average of $300 to fix it. But it is annoying.

The engine is good and the car is very fuel efficient. It gets about the same average gas mileage as the Toyota Prius Hybrid car, but it is faster.|||With the above post, you have the best one being diesel. I have owned one for 8 years since new. I had problems with the window regulators, but they were warranteed and upgraded. Some of the plastic material is not so great, but I believe yours is improved. Just be sure to change the timing belt at the proper interval and waterpump as well.|||The most common faults with all small engined VWs after 2000,

Alternator is computer controlled and gives trouble

Electric windows snap small plastic parts but need the whole assembly replaced to be fixed

Central locking actuators(motors) go faulty

Ignition coils burn out and it runs bad.

The last one was so bad that they couldn't make enough coils to keep production going and fix the faulty ones

At one point they were !,000,000 coils behind in production.|||I had a 2003 and now a 2007... I guess I'm a gluten for punishment. They are fun little cars, but there will be things go wrong with it. they have a 4 year waranty for a reason... Use it... My 2007 has less than 10k miles and has been in for service 4 times... Electrical issues mainly.

Check out these websites to find other friends that drive and love their New Beetles!
